Marcel Mouly

Artist Biography:

Marcel Mouly (1918-2008) was born in Paris and decided to pursue art after an error on the part of the German government landed him in prison. Mouly studied at the French Academies and was influenced by the great artists of the time, including Picasso, Matisse, and Braque. He learned about cubism from Jacques Lipchitz who became his mentor. Mouly has won many awards, including the Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et Lettres in 1957 and the Premier Prix de Lithographie in 1973 and his artwork has been exhibited world wide.
