The Gallery 4 is pleased to welcome Keith Schmiedlin. Pittsburgh based artist Keith Schmiedlin is known for using bold solid colors and gestural lines to paint subject matter ranging from flower motifs to WWII fighter planes. Schmiedlin's stylish artworks resemble candy colored stained glass windows or mosaics, and though handcrafted, have the precise lines and segmented spaces of a vector drawing.
Schmiedlin attended CAP A (Creative and Performing Arts) High School and went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design at LaRoche College. With over 15 years of professional experience, Keith operates his own design business, Schmiedlin Designs, as well as continuing his work full time as an artist. His paintings, already in many private collections throughout the country, have recently garnered the attention of public outlets here in Pittsburgh: He currently has paintings on display at Children’s Hospital, Animal Friends, Vanilla Pastry Studio, the Sewickley Gallery and the Pittsburgh Zoo. Keith works were recently featured in the "Things We Love" Section of Pittsburgh Magazine.
Schmiedlin also takes time to give back to the local community: in supporting POWER (a local organization that aids women in recovery) by donating a few paintings each year. When not creating, Schmiedlin enjoys expanding his collection of pieces and encouraging the work of other artists.
With "On the Prowl", Schmiedlin presents a new study of animals, wilderness, and mother nature. Whether depicting the serene reflection of water lilies adrift in a koi pond, the intensity in the gaze of a bird of prey, or a smashed in piece of decaying skeleton; The portrayals are vibrant and striking. Through Schmiedlin's stylistic vision, the viewer is invited to consider the delicacy of each painted fragment that populates the canvas and synthesizes the completed image - Thus, the vantage is refreshed with each revisit, in turn keeping the viewer on their toes and always on the prowl.
The Gallery 4 is committed to redefining the nature of a conventional gallery. We feature works from a variety of national artists and local talent. We also carry a variety of limited edition toys and clothing. Fine art should be within the reach of everyone, and at The Gallery 4 we are making this a reality.
